Saving Jake at RAD

Behind the scenes on the short "Saving Jake" in the River Arts District. I love this graffiti building! I feel so lucky to have been able to shoot a scene at this gem of a location.  When you're working with a great team, magic happens and these scenes were magic.

Shooting our flash back scenes were so challenging,  We had a multitude of actors, locations, hair and make up changes and props to keep track of!  Thankfully I have the dream team cast and crew who made it all happen.  This film production is comprised of the best quality I've ever worked with.  I'm so excited for everyone to see this movie!

It was a cold, wet shoot for all our present day scenes.  The cast and crew were incredible!  Working in tough conditions and never complaining.  So excited to see this footage.

Synopsis

Based on a true story, a hardworking orphan grows old on the streets as a homeless man until a friend convinces him to find housing and hope.

Hope is in so many film festivals!

Biltmore Estate Commercial Work

I was lucky enough to score a gig with the Biltmore Estate!  I made a few how-to style videos and this behind-the-scenes look at the spring garden design.

Voted Best of Western North Carolina!

A while back I was honored to be voted one of the best local filmmakers in Western North Carolina by the readers of the Mountain Express.  I actually tied for Second!  This was news to me, since I hadn't told anyone to vote for me and it's all done by write-in.  In fact I forgot to vote myself.  So I don't know who put me down as one of the best filmmakers around, but I want to send them a big thank you!

Also just to update you on the film festival saga.  I recently received a very nice rejection from the Atlanta International Film Festival.  The cool thing about that festival is that they were sending regular updates to all the filmmakers that had entered so that we all knew how the selection process was going.  They also sent some really great tips and resources out to filmmakers.  So while I didn't make it in, I have to say the experience was still a good one.  I'm 1 for 3 so far.  Down to just 3 more festivals.

The Other Time Lapse Spot for News Thirteen

It took me forever to get these time lapse spots finished.  I shot these with my old Nikon D200, using an intervalometer (triggers the camera at the rate you set it for) and some times I triggered the camera manually to make the action flow the way I wanted it to.  Most exposures were 1 second long, with the night time shots, especially the star trails as long as 1 minute for each frame.  That means for some of these 3 second shots, I spent over an hour just letting the camera go.  It was a great way to spend an evening.  Sometimes my job is just awesome.

I went to shoot time lapse footage at Max Patch. It was amazing! When the weather gets warmer, I want to go back and camp there. All these pictures were shot with a fish eye lens I rented for the shoot.

I shot two of my good friends/colleges engagement session at the NC Arboretum. They are just so cute. They were worried about not being able to pose well, but really they had nothing to worry about. Wedding coming soon.

Shooting in Brevard

Dave and I frequently find ourselves running all over Western North Carolina collecting footage for promotions. On this particular day we ended un in Brevard, NC and I took my still camera along. The town is really cute, except for the lifesized toy soldiers outside one store, they were creepy.
